RMS Summer Update: Oklahoma Air Guard follows the advice of Will Rogers
Message from Remember My Service President, Sharlene Hawkes

The “proofing” phase of any RMS project is my favorite. That’s when everything has been organized, laid out, edited…and the story is now ready to be told. And that’s where we are with the OK Air National Guard. Famous Oklahoma native Will Rogers said, “If you want to be successful, it’s just this simple. Know what you are doing. Love what you are doing. And believe in what you are doing.” Well, based on the gigabytes of unbelievable interviews, photos, documents and bios we’ve been organizing and editing here at RMS homebase for the OKANG interactive historical record, the OK Air Guardsmen at the Will Rogers ANG Base were not only raised on those words, but gobbled them up to fully embody what Will meant. Do they know what they’re doing? How about well over 600,000 of mishap free hours over the past 48 years for starters? Do they love what they’re doing? Just ask Major Rick Mutchler, their Operations Officer who was the 2008 Company Grade Officer of the Year for the entire ANG level.
Do they believe in what they’re doing? 1LT Jessica Chapa, the Project Officer for this RMS project, has truckloads of proof (well…maybe not truckloads…but from our end it feels like it!) that clearly demonstrates the commitment, the dedication and the pure belief in the importance of their specific role in America’s defense. Kudos to 1LT Chapa and the entire OKANG for having such an amazing legacy to tell about—we are proud to help them share it!

Sharlene

  • RMS sponsored a Wounded Warrior retreat at the Shining Mountain Ranch in Montana two weeks ago. Those guys eliminated at least 200 pesky gophers, and 3 badgers. The ranch owner was very pleased with these former snipers and special ops guys. You can read about it here.
